Heavy rain followed me through Plovdiv’s old city on the way to Oranj Son at Spike Showcase. I arrived at Fabric soaked through, and the venue’s dense, surreal atmosphere felt perfectly matched to the trio waiting onstage.

Once the performance began, the trio pulled the room into their own musical state. It was a compact gallery, but the closeness of the venue, the brick walls and the concentration of the musicians gave the photographs a distinct character.
