Zoological Museum of Moscow

A photographic visit to Moscow State University’s Zoological Museum in 2022, following the atmosphere, working spaces and people behind the displays.

One of my most interesting discoveries of 2022 was the Zoological Museum of Moscow State University. An old school friend’s work there gave the visit an unexpected personal connection. These photographs follow the museum’s atmosphere and the people at work: dark exhibition rooms, bright task lamps, specimens on a workbench and moments caught between light and shadow.

Looking beyond the display case

The gallery combines colour photographs of the working spaces with black-and-white observations of the rooms and visitors. It is a personal record of the visit, not a guide to current opening hours or admission.
