Signs of Use: Wood, Rust and Painted Metal

Chains, boards and painted metal carry visible traces of use. These twenty photographs follow weathered doors, old machinery, marine equipment and street objects through close details and wider views.

The collection moves between rural buildings, a ship deck and city streets without turning the objects into anonymous textures. A bicycle fixed above a room, an old fire engine and a doorway layered with notices keep their everyday context. Shapes, surfaces and small repairs form the connection between photographs made on separate journeys.
